If you are like many employers, you may mistakenly believe that discrimination laws restrict your right to determine appropriate workplace dress. In fact, you actually have a lot of discretion in what you can require your employees to wear to work. Generally, a carefully drafted dress code that is applied consistently should not violate discrimination laws. However, this fact will not stop employees from questioning your policy. This article, from our HR Matters E-Tips free electronic newsletter, examines common legal challenges to dress codes and suggests ways you can avoid problems.

Careful Policy Drafting

You probably have been faced with an employee who complains that a dress code "violates my rights." Some employees will even go so far as to allege discrimination on the basis of sex, religion, or race under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. However, if a dress code is based on business needs and applied uniformly, it generally will not violate employee civil rights.

Sex Discrimination Claims.

Sex discrimination claims typically are not successful unless the dress policy has no basis in social customs, differentiates significantly between men and women, or imposes a greater burden on women. Thus, a policy that requires female managers to wear uniforms while male managers are allowed to wear "professional dress" may be discriminatory. However, dress requirements that reflect current social norms generally are upheld, even when they affect only one sex. For example, in a decision by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Harper v. Blockbuster Entertainment Corp., 139 F.3d 1385 (11th Cir. 1998), the court upheld an employer's policy that required only male employees to cut their long hair.

Be aware, though, that at least one state, California, prohibits employers from implementing a dress code that does not allow women to wear pants in the workplace. According to Section 12947.5 of the California Government Code, it is an unlawful employment practice for an employer to prohibit an employee from wearing pants because of the sex of the employee. The California law does make exceptions so employees in certain occupations can be required to wear uniforms.

Race and Disability Discrimination Claims.

Race discrimination claims can be even more difficult to prove since the employee must show that the employer's dress code has a disparate impact on a protected class of employees. One limited area where race claims have had some success is in challenges to "no beard" policies. A few courts have determined that a policy that requires all male employees to be clean-shaven may discriminate if it does not accommodate individuals with pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), a skin condition aggravated by shaving that occurs almost exclusively among African-American males.

No-beard rules also may violate disability discrimination laws. A few courts have ruled that PFB is a disabling condition and thus requires reasonable accommodation under state disability laws and the federal Rehabilitation Act (which prohibits federal contractors from discriminating in employment based on disability).

Religious Discrimination Claims.

Employees have had more success claiming dress codes violate religious discrimination laws. These claims are likely if an employer is unwilling to allow an employee's religious dress or appearance. For example, a policy may be discriminatory if it does not accommodate an employee's religious need to cover his head or wear a beard. However, if an employer can show that the accommodation would be an undue hardship, such as if the employee's dress created a safety concern, it probably does not have to allow the exception to its policy.

NLRA Claims.

Dress code claims also may be filed under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). To comply with the NLRA, employers, even in nonunion workplaces, may not universally ban the wearing of union insignia. An employer may set neutral policies that, when uniformly enforced, prohibit employees from wearing certain items of clothing that also have union insignias on them, such as T-shirts with union logos if the policy prohibits all T-shirts. However, several courts have determined that employees have the right to wear union buttons and pins to work, unless the wearing of these items creates a safety hazard or, in the case of workers with public contact, the employees consistently are required to wear uniforms without buttons and pins.

Tattoos and Body Piercings.

Many employees also mistakenly believe that they have a right to show tattoos and body piercings in the workplace. While tattoos and piercings may be examples of employee self-expression, they generally are not recognized as indications of religious or racial expression and, therefore, are not protected under federal discrimination laws. Accordingly, as with most personal appearance and grooming standards, you have wide latitude to set policy regarding tattoos and body piercings.

Common Sense Tips for Drafting and Enforcing Your Dress Code

Here are some ideas for ensuring that your policy complies with the legal restrictions described above:

1. Base the policy on business-related reasons. Explain your reasons in the policy so employees understand the rationale behind the restrictions. Common business-related reasons include maintaining the organization's public image, promoting a productive work environment, or complying with health and safety standards.

2. Require employees to have an appropriate, well-groomed appearance. Even casual dress policies should specify what clothing is inappropriate (such as sweatsuits, shorts, and jeans) and any special requirements for employees who deal with the public.

3. Communicate the policy. Use employee handbooks or memos to alert employees to the new policy, any revisions, and the penalties for noncompliance. In addition, explain the policy to job candidates.

4. Apply the dress code policy uniformly to all employees. This can prevent claims that the policy adversely affects women or minorities. However, you may have to make exceptions if required by law. (See next suggestion.)

5. Make reasonable accommodation when the situation requires an exception. Be prepared to accommodate requests for religious practices and disabilities, such as head coverings and facial hair.

6. Apply consistent discipline for dress code violations. When disciplining violators, point out why their attire does not comply with the code and what they can do to comply.

Athletic Dresses

An athletic body type deserves a nice handmade athletic dress. By buying a handmade athletic dress, you treat yourself to a nice reward while helping an independent artisan make a living. Yes, hand-sewn clothes are made by simple people and not by some big-shot company. You get to have a high-quality garment at a reasonable price. In addition, you get to help save the environment in your own little way. You see, by patronizing handcrafted products, you refuse to acknowledge factory-made items; and if more people do not buy factory-made products, there will be less pollution in the air, water, and land. The environment will be cleaner.

Anyway, when buying a handmade athletic dress, keep in mind some important factors. For instance, consider your torso and chest. If your breasts are not really that big, you may wear a padded bra and choose a handmade athletic dress that will enhance your chest. A dress with a cowl neck or a v-neck will be ideal. It will make your upper body look broader; thus, creating the illusion of a sexier waist. You may also get a dress with bows, ruffles, pockets, or gathers. This one will add dimension to your chest. In addition, you may get a halter-style dress or an empire cut dress.

Dress Best

A handmade athletic dress with nice, feminine patterns will also look great. Usually, a handmade athletic dress is in solid color like white or black; but a printed one will look just as great. You just have to choose the pattern that will flatter your skin tone and body. Also, remember not to go overboard when it comes to choosing patterns and prints. If you want, you may even buy a matching belt to add definition to your waistline. Plus, you can have accessories such as a scarf or a necklace. These accessories will perfectly match the dress without being too girly. They will provide you with the right amount of femininity.

Athletic Dresses

As for your footwear, choose a pair of shoes that will not make you look thinner. A handmade athletic dress will go well with a pair of long shoes, and not chunky ones. So, you better steer clear of platforms and wedges. These shoes will just make your legs look heavy. Instead, flatter your legs with a nice-looking pair of pumps with slightly thicker heels. On the other hand, if you want to show off your small ankles, you can wear a pair of ankle strap heels or t-strap heels. These shoes will also look good on you with that handmade athletic dress of yours. Just opt for the pair with thinner heels. Furthermore, remember to sport the right bag; and fix your hair accordingly.

Trends for 2012 Prom Dresses

While the prom may still be several months away, now is the time to start shopping for those 2012 prom dresses. You want to get your dress early, before all of the good ones are taken. It is also smart to allow plenty of time for any necessary alterations that will make the dress fit perfectly. Whether this will be your very first prom or your final prom before graduating, you will want a show-stopping dress. The main considerations that make a gown unique are the silhouette, neckline, hemline, color, fabric and embellishments.

This year, the biggest trend in prom dresses is the hi lo style, which is short in the front and long in the back. It gives prom goers the best of both worlds. The shorter front shows off shapely legs and allows for more freedom of movement, while the longer back provides an elegant touch. Coming in at a close second is the short cocktail dress. This is the ultimate party dress, because it is chic and sassy without being too formal. They are ideal for dancing.

Dress Best

Other trendy 2012 prom dress styles are the floor length mermaid, Grecian and column silhouettes. The mermaid is tight on top and through the hips, then it flares out at the knees. The main component of the column or sheath dress is the slim silhouette that is cut very close to the body. It often has a high slit to provide ease of movement. The mermaid and column styles really emphasize the curves, while the Grecian style gently skims the body. It has an empire waist and a long, loose skirt that floats away from the body. Some designs also have a slight back train.

Trends for 2012 Prom Dresses

Necklines range from the strapless sweetheart, to the one shoulder asymmetrical, to thin spaghetti straps, halters, and deep v-necks. The strapless necklines are tight, like a corset, and often have a ruched bodice with boning. The back may even lace up. Prom dresses with straps often have eye-catching jeweled embellishments that transition into a racerback. A lot of dresses also have a glitzy brooch or a cluster of jewels, sequins or rhinestones at the waistline or chest. Another modern touch is one or more cutouts. Typically, they are at the waist, but they can also be on the back or at the bust.

Feathered skirts are a major trend this year. Whether they are on a long, strapless gown or a short, cocktail dress, layers of feathers add drama and fun. The best way to wear a feathered skirt is with a tight top. For instance, a strapless, bustier style neckline with a fuller bottom will create balance. It is also less risque than the skin-tight cocktail dresses. The tiered, feathered skirts often have a ruffled wire hem inside to keep them from getting flat. Similar to feathers are rows of alternating ruffles and rosettes. Again, these will work on dresses of any length.

For a clean, uncluttered look, choose a column dress made from satin. They look like liquid when the dress moves. Another way to glisten is by wearing a dress covered with mirrored glass or sequins. When strapless designs have a heavily embellished top and an unadorned skirt, it creates an eye-pleasing contrast. Panels of overlays are featured on prom dresses this season. Some only seem to be transparent, while others actually are see-through. They can be the same color as the dress or a flesh tone. To create more excitement, sequins, beads or lace may be added on top of the overlays.

The color story is one that involves neutrals, flesh tones and electric shades. Grey is everywhere this year. It is a nice change from sliver, gold and bronze. However, they still remain popular. Pale tones, including blush, pink and champagne, are the newest colors. All the celebrities have been wearing them on the red carpet. For maximum impact, select yellow, red, blue or purple in a bright, bold shade.

With all of the wonderful options, choosing just one prom dress can be hard. Decide whether you want to look sexy, sophisticated, glamorous, ethereal or ready to party. Then, try on a ton of dresses until you find the perfect one.

Fashion Tips: How To Dress On A First Date

A first date  is one of the most crucial moments. This is the time where potential couples get to know each other and that's the reason why we should make a good impression. Looking good and feeling great are one of the most basic essentials especially when you are on a date. And so, without further ado, here are some important tips that will help you know how to dress on a first date.

HOW TO DRESS ON A FIRST DATE

Dress Best

1. Determine Your Partner's Style

Fashion Tips: How To Dress On A First Date

It is a must that you should know your partner's style so that you can determine what kind of outfit you need to use. You should also take note of the venue where your date is going to be held. Is it in a bowling alley? Is it in a fancy restaurant? Is your date the rocker type or the athletic type? Is he the laid back kind or a stylish fashionista? Try to think of these things first.

2. Comfort Is Key

You've finally spotted that oh-so gorgeous dress and the killer heels that go perfectly well with it. However, these outfits become a pain in the butt because the dress is too tight and the heels are literally killing your feet. In order to prevent this unwanted discomfort from ruining your date, try to wear a dress that will make you feel gorgeous. Wear a pair of shoes that will give you the utmost comfort.

3. Wear Something That Is Flattering

Choosing the right outfit can be a bit tricky. You would want to wear something that is sexy but tasteful at the same time. A little black dress is always one of the most popular go-to outfits on a first date, because it's just oh-so simple yet elegant. Try to choose a dress that can work well with your body type so that it will be very flattering for you.

4. Consider the Environment

If your date has asked you to go on a movie date or a date at the beach, then you can choose an outfit that is appropriate. Try wearing a flowy summer dress on a date at the beach or wear a back baring ensemble if you are at a cocktail party. A back baring dress gives a hint of sexiness and surprise.

Dressing during a first date can be a little bit daunting. However, once you find out your date's style preferences and having a good look at the proposed venue, you will definitely not have a hard time looking for that perfect outfit. Remember that comfort is key and you should always enjoy the moment.

How to Dress Like a 1950s Housewife

When you mention 1950s housewife many people think of Donna Reed. She always wore a beautiful shirtwaist dress with her hair done just so. Or you may think of the TV shows or movies that brought back the '50s look like "Happy Days", "American Graffiti" and "Grease." In this article we will show you how to use retro fashions for a '50s housewife look. This 3-4 piece outfit is easy to put together and will help you look and feel the part.

Let's start with The Dress: it should be a cheerful, light print in floral, checks or solid. The best is a classic vintage shirtwaist dress with a fitted waist and a flared or full skirt. It buttons or zips in the front and often has cuffed sleeves. If you have trouble finding a vintage shirtwaist dress then check in stores that sell house dresses and look for a simple style in vintage prints and colors like tiny rose prints or even kitchen prints. Avoid loud colors or polyester. Cotton or poly cotton will look the most authentic. The length should be mid calf or just below the knees. Be sure to wash the dress several times to make it more lived in and authentic looking.

Dress Best

Next, what says "housewife" more than an apron? Check vintage or thrift stores for a full or half vintage or new apron with a retro print. Be sure to look for one that makes a big bow in the back. If you can't find a convincing retro print, pastel or plain colors can work as well. Stitch on ric rac for an extra kitschy touch or tuck a hankie in the pocket and let a little bit peek out. It's also a good idea to tie a sheer scarf on one of the apron ties, because you never know when you'll have to put up your hair and pitch in to get something done.

How to Dress Like a 1950s Housewife

Finally, you'll need to add some 50's period details. These could be a circle pin, a string of pearls, button earrings or cateye glasses. Try pulling your hair back and tying it with a scarf in a triangle shape tied in the back under your hair, or pull it around and tie it on top with bunny ears. Shoes should be low heels, ballet flats, or loafers. You can casually throw a cardigan sweater over your shoulders and add a sweater guard to hold it firmly in place. Purse should be big enough for your wallet, lipstick, keys to the station wagon and your coupon book. And don't forget your eyeglasses on a chain.

Now you have your 50's housewife outfit together. How will you get all your chores, washing and dusting done yet still have time to touch up your lipstick and keep your bouffant hairdo looking fresh? Let's be grateful for all the modern appliances that helped ease the household work and left more time for fashion and fun.

Fun Fact: The average homemaker in the 1950's spent over three hours a day preparing meals, cooking and feeding her family. New products were introduced in the 50's that were designed to make life easier for the average homemaker. These products included Saran Wrap, microwave ovens, nonstick pans, Kraft Foods' pre-sliced cheese, the Sunbeam Mixmaster, and Mrs. Paul's frozen fish sticks. Yum!

Grandmother of the Bride Dresses

If you are a grandmother then you really want to look your best on your dear granddaughter's wedding day. There are plenty of mother of the bride outfits and these could act as a guide for what a grandmother should wear. Grandmothers will appear in many of the wedding photos, so it is very important that the grandmother of the bride should have just the right dress on the day.

Keep your beautiful dress as simple as possible and let the cut and the materials speak for themselves. You will know when you have the right dress for this memorable day because it will feel just right. You probably will need a hat or at least one of those cocktail flowers that you can pin to your hair. Add some grosgrain shoes and a leather or satin clutch bag and you are good to go.

Dress Best

Lisa Rene and Ursula of Switzerland are two designers who have made it their business to see that dresses for a bride's grandmother are the best there is. Generally speaking, blue, purple or lavender are three great colors for a simple dress to wear on the great day. As you get older and the years take their toll, you will not want to be wearing anything with a low neck line. A simple dress with a slightly scooped neck and elbow length sleeves is a great style to wear to a wedding. Make the dress floor length, beautifully cut and made from silk and you really will shine on the wedding day.

Grandmother of the Bride Dresses

Looking elegant is quite essential. Also, a glamorous outfit can make her feel really special. If she wants something that is a bit simpler, the classic look always works well. It is important to remember that she will be out and about all day and so the dress should be as comfortable as possible. Check out Misty Lane and Christie's formal pant suit collection. You will be able to find beautiful outfits that are full cut line in virtually every size and color. From gorgeous three-piece sleeveless camisoles with long jackets to four-piece "pantsets" (blouse, jacket, scarf and pants); all beautifully embellished with beads, satin ribbons or tassels. Shopping online for these is a good option as you will be able to find a vast array of different styles at really good prices.

When you get the perfect outfit or dress for a doting granny you will probably want it to have a designer name behind it. You want to push the boat out for your darling's big day and people like Donna Vinci and Lisa Stone offer some great styles at affordable prices.

Make sure you find out everything you need to know about grandmother of the bride dresses before venturing into the shopping process. Remember to keep it simple and to avoid uncomfortable outfits. Also, you can save quite a bit of money if you shop online.

Dress Shirts & Ties to Match Navy Suits

Question:

I am going to a wedding in a few weeks and I was wondering what color shirt to wear with a dark navy suit? And also what type of tie to match with it? I have tried it with a plain blue shirt but it kind of makes the whole outfit look very plain and dull.

Dress Best

Answer:

Dress Shirts & Ties to Match Navy Suits

Dark navy suits are the most basic color suits every men should have in their wardrobe. The color shirts to match are limitless. I would rather continue discussing about the plain blue shirt that you have already chosen, it should not go wrong with your navy suit. Preferably you should choose a blue shirt that is of medium blue rather than dark blue or light blue. Medium blue can be easily coordinated against most men's facial complexion as well as nicely matched against the navy suit.

Probably the best bet to brighten up your look would be the choice of nice colored tie. If you are wearing a medium blue dress shirt, then you can play around with the different gradient of blue with the darker navy on the outside, then the medium blue dress shirt on inside, and then finally going for a blue tie that is in between the colors of navy and medium blue. You can attempt to pair it with a tie that has largely blue and patterns with other colors on it like white or red.

Nowadays it is easy to get hold of patterned ties. I would recommend you to try stripe or check or dotted ties. But generally most men can coordinate better with stripe ties rather than check or dotted ties. In terms of colors, your tie just needs to have some basic blue or gray tone within it and the rest can be of more striking colors like red, pink, yellow, green.

Refer to Dress for Success: Mens Fashion Coordination for greater ideas on color and pattern matching for men.

Sheath Dress

Sheath dress has a defined waistline and a figure hugging silhouette, typically flattering on a hour glass figure. It sure is a great formal wear and an excellent alternative to a business suit.

The dress comes with numerous necklines such as bateau, jewel, sweetheart or deep V-neck. The length can be anywhere from above the knee to mid calf. You can always wear it with leggings or tights if you are conscious about showing your legs.

Dress Best

Sleeveless sheath dresses are perfect in an formal environment if your workplace allows. However, if you are not comfortable slip on a fitted blazer. Avoid bold prints in an corporate environment. In addition, if you are using it as a formal wear avoid deep revealing necklines.

Sheath Dress

Sheath dress also creates the illusion of long legs. High heels is probably the best footwear with the dress. Wear the highest heel you possibly can. It emphasizes the shape of your legs by flattering the curves of your ankles and calves. A thick belt in the waist further accentuates the feminine appeal. Its fitting silhouette creates an excellent base for layering trendy cardigans and jackets. The elegant style can be further enhanced with some great accessories. A metallic brooch, a diamond necklace or a ornate bracelet can make the look exceedingly sophisticated.

While basic black is suited for a corporate environment, you can choose bold and bright colors for other occasions. Here are few other ways to create different looks.

• To glam up as a party dress, pair it with classic accessories. Throw on a classic scarf or wear a statement making neck piece or carry a elegant bag and leave your hair down.
• Slip a t-shirt underneath a sheath dress and you can wear it as a jumper.
• For the colder days, wear a turtle neck beneath the dress. It's highly chic and classy.
• Wear a top, a shirt or a sweater on top of the dress and no one will ever know it is a sheath dress. It gives the illusion of a skirt.

As you see, you can try the possibilities to create different looks is endless. All you have to do is be creative and experiment with different styles. Remember, unless you experiment you never know what flatters your body type and what will not.

Older Women's Bridal Dresses

Older women's bridal dresses are specially designed for women marrying later in life. It is important to buy a gown that is fashionable and just right for the bride.

Older women also have the option to choose formal, semiformal or designer wedding dresses. In general, they prefer a special occasion dress, social evening dress, or formal evening dress to wear for their weddings. Older women?s bridal dresses can be selected from the "Mother of the Bride" dress collections. These include long sleeve, single piece dresses and other formal attires. Two-piece mother of the bride gowns are an ideal option for older brides.

Dress Best

Silk and satin are popular fabrics used to make older women's bridal dresses. However, there are also mix fabrics that look equally good and are cheaper. Before purchasing, it is good to discuss the fabric with your dressmaker. Choosing an appropriate color is one of the most difficult tasks. For example, white or wedding white includes shades such as ivory, eggshell, diamond white, ecru, and candlelight. Even burgundy, blue and mauve colored fabrics may be used for making older women's bridal dresses.

Older Women's Bridal Dresses

Most older women wear semiformal dresses for their wedding. Formal ball gowns may even be worn for this occasion. Formal ball gowns are suitable for any age. These dresses have an additional advantage that they do not look like older women's attire. The best option for older brides is to use clothing that is tailor-made and appropriate for their figure and complexion. Trousers are favored by some; skirts with bolero jackets are also quite popular with older women.

Most department stores stock bridal wear suitable for older women. Older women's bridal dresses can easily be purchased through online shops also.

The Best Creative Ways to Propose

Marriage proposals made over a romantic dinner at an elegant restaurant can be very romantic but they are not necessarily creative. Many women dream about the day that the man of their dreams proposes to them and hope that the day will be absolutely perfect in every way imaginable. In a recent study the majority of married women reported that they believe that their spouse spent a significant amount of money on their wedding proposal but that the lack of originality in the proposal had left the women feeling disappointed.

One creative way to propose for a couple involved in a long distance relationship is to plan a surprise visit and set up a scavenger hunt. You could have a friend pick you up from the airport so that your girlfriend doesn't know that you are coming to visit and have the friend give your girlfriend instructions for the scavenger hunt. You could hide a number of small surprises such as candy, flowers and a CD as the first few stops on the scavenger hunt and then hide at the final location poised to propose when your girlfriend completes the game.

Dress Best

An outdoor enthusiast might appreciate a creative proposal during a camping trip. It's a good idea to plan a quiet trip for just you and your girlfriend at a picturesque location. You could hide the ring in your sleeping bag to use in a surprise proposal. When it's time to go to sleep after a long day of hiking and fishing, you could complain that there must be a rock or something underneath you and then pull out the ring and make your proposal. This creative proposal also contains the element of surprise as a camping trip is not a usual proposal location.

The Best Creative Ways to Propose

Another creative proposal idea is to place an ad in a local newspaper. You could place an outrageous ad in a newspaper asking anyone who was willing to get married to give you a call and include a fictitious phone number. Then when you and your girlfriend are reading the paper together, you could point out the ad as a joke and while she is reading the ad, seize the opportunity to pull out the engagement ring and let her know that you would love to marry her.

Proposing at a sporting event is a creative way to propose to a sports fan. For this proposal idea you could either arrange to have your proposal broadcast over the public address system or displayed on the large screen. If you are really adventurous, you could also contact the team's public relations department and try to make arrangements to make your proposal on the field at halftime. They might be willing to help you stage a scenario where you are either chosen to win a prize or participate in a contest and while you are on the field, they would hand over the microphone to allow you to make your proposal.

Another creative marriage proposal idea is to purchase a book of poems and leave the first few pages intact and carve a heart into the remaining pages and sew the engagement ring to the back of the book. You could suggest taking turns reading the poems on each page and plan to have your girlfriend turn the final complete page to reveal the heart and ring that were hidden inside. This proposal idea is not only creative but also incredibly romantic.

Having the DJ of your girlfriend's favorite radio program ask her if she will marry you is another creative proposal idea. You will want to make sure that you are aware of the exact time that the DJ will be sending your message so that you are able to ensure that you and your girlfriend are listening together when he makes the announcement. You could also arrange to have the DJ play a song that has a special meaning for you as a couple so that you can enjoy a dance together after she accepts your creative proposal.

Another creative way to propose is to include all of your family and friends in the event by inviting them all to a surprise party for your girlfriend. To make this proposal work, you would either convince your girlfriend that you want to have a quiet dinner at home or at a restaurant with just the two of you. Once you arrive at the destination all of the guests will reveal themselves and while all eyes are on the two of you, you could take the opportunity to profess your love and propose.

Still another creative way to propose is to hide the ring in an unexpected location. For example you could pretend to have a clogged sink and while you are working to fix the clog, you could reach into the sink and pull out the engagement ring. When your girlfriend is nearby, you could seize the opportunity to pull out the ring you had hidden earlier and say something to the effect of, "No wonder the sink is clogged, I'll have to find another place to store this ring, how about your finger?" This whimsical proposal is both light-hearted and creative.

A variation on the traditional proposal at an elegant restaurant could be to have the waiter bring out the ring with the bill. You could have a little good natured fun with your girlfriend by going out of your way to drop hints that you would be proposing over dinner. If you keep up the act, she will be expecting your proposal with each course. After dessert you could tell her that you have something very important to ask and as she eagerly awaits your proposal, you could ask an inconsequential question about something completely irrelevant to your relationship. She will probably be furious at this point but her anger won't last as the waiter arrives with the bill and the engagement ring and you let her know how much she means to you.

Finally a creative proposal idea is for the woman to ask the man to marry her, instead of waiting for him to propose. Many women anxiously await the day that the man in their life will propose but why not add your own creative twist by proposing to him instead. The woman is free to propose in any way that she finds truly romantic and can ensure that the proposal is both creative and romantic and that it's a moment that they both will remember for the rest of their lives.

A great marriage proposal doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant. Many women are more likely to cherish the memories of a proposal that was inexpensive but truly creative. The creativity is what makes the proposal so memorable and what makes it a great story to tell their friends.
